4 Another Baby Shower Cake!

We had another eventful weekend!  My husband took advantage of the second part of my anniversary gift to him, and he went up to NC and autocrossed a Ferrari 360 Spider and an Audi R8, and also raced his own little turbo Miata around the track about 50 times.  Great fun.

But, the best part of my weekend was my sister-in-law's baby shower.  We decided to do a 2pm dessert shower, and I did another sweet potato bread pudding, a fresh fruit bowl, a sparkling cranberry-raspberry punch, and a meat and cheese platter.

However, the main event was the fabulous cake I ordered from the wonderful Miss Mamie's.  The bottom tier was was an octagon-shaped strawberry cake with strawberry filling, and the top dome tier is margarita flavor with lime filling (which we are saving for when baby girl is born in a few weeks.)  The theme of the nursery is frogs, and thus the cake's main design was an adorable froggie princess on a lily pad with dragonflies, snails, cattails and pond grass.  So cute!

So, thank you Mamie, the mom-to-be (and everyone else) absolutely loved it!

And now, I'm off to E's school to do a cooking center - we're making gluten/dairy/nut-free organic coconut strawberry waffles!

2 Amazing Cake

My sister Amanda's baby shower was amazingly beautiful!  We ordered the most adorable baby shower invitations by Ann Kelle for Tiny Prints and we were so inspired by the design that we decided that would be the theme of the cake.  (Picture below is from Tiny Prints' website.)

The monkey was just darling, and our baker was able to make fondant figurines of it, as well as a panda bear and a giraffe (which are part of her Kids Line Peekaboo Pals bedding theme.)  These are a few pictures of our cake by local Columbia, Maryland baker, Kathy at Simply Desserts. She was AMAZING and the cake was todiefor. Lemon cake with raspberry buttercream and raspberry preserve filling. No wonder I gained!

We were so incredibly happy with the service we got from Tiny Prints (we had a little snag with an incorrect date - our fault - and they were so helpful in getting the invites re-printed and to us immediately, and even discounted the re-print.  Now THAT is customer service!)  And of course, the cake goes without saying!  Kathy was wonderful, and I'd recommend her to anyone in Maryland in a heartbeat.
