0 Bento #231 - Bruschetta Chicken Bowties

Thursday, February 2, 2012

Dinner for lunch!  Fresh tomato basil bruschetta with a splash of vodka makes the sauce, seared organic chicken thighs and tossed with whole wheat farfalle pasta and Parm.  REALLY good, and easy.  I'm using my two-tier Greentainer, which holds a ton!

Side salad of artisan lettuce and dressing.

...with a LOT of focaccia croutons (I emptied the bag, and it was more than I had expected!) Craisins round it out.  It's craisins again because I keep forgetting to get different dried fruit for those times when I'm out of fresh...like NOW.  That's going on my shopping list as I type.

No snack because they are doing a special one at lunch today.

2 Bento #176 - Chicken Ravioli & Bruschetta

New bento box!  Yes, I have a problem.  My sister and I went to get our brows threaded at the mall, and we just had to stop in at Niko Niko.  They had this new Hello Kitty square box that I had to get.  I think this is the first purple one that we own, which is nice because it's E's favorite color.  I also threw in some Hello Kitty chocolate pocky as a special treat since World Market is donating 100% of the proceeds that come from the sale of Japanese products to earthquake/tsunami relief through September.  We stocked up on sake and other items, including the cute containers of pocky you see below.

0 Bento #73 - Italian Quesadilla

Friday, April 30, 2010

So, this is more of a bento plate.  I bought some nice smoked Boar's Head ham yesterday, and assembled that on a whole wheat tortilla shell with some shredded cheese, and lightly grilled it with some butter.  I served it with some very basil-y, garlicky bruschetta (fresh tomatoes, garlic, basil, olive oil) and some sour cream on the side.  This was gobbled right down, tomatoes and all.

We are also going to be concentrating on the proper usage of knife and fork.  This is something that was insisted upon in my house growing up, and I think that everyone - young and old - should know how to properly use those utensils.  We have some practice to do, but she was so proud to do it by herself.

By the way, I got a new oak top kitchen island/breakfast bar last weekend (hallelujah!)  Now I just need my new lighting installed above it, and then I'll be all set.  Woo hoo!
