Bentobloggy Giveaway

My 8 year old daughter likes blini (mini-pancakes) in her lunch. We use tiny fish-shaped sauce bottles for maple syrup. I round it out with cheese strings, berries and a milk. I got her a laptop lunchbox two years ago and all the kids in her class want one. They always want to see what she has for lunch because it's never a boring old sandwich!

My almost 2 yr old son likes grilled/pan fried chicken and steamed broccoli for lunch. He has many food allergies so his food selection is limited. I make all meals for him and use organic when possible.
I just marinate the thinly sliced chicken breast with a little garlic powder, tamari soy sauce and olive oil.

How fun! My girls love carrots- I can put carrots with any meal and know they'll at least at that part!

My 6 year old son loves to have fresh strawberries (it is the only fresh fruit he is not allergic to) and triscuts- not many kids like triscuts...lol

My 18 month old daughter will eat as many black beans as you let her and avacado in the same manner...

Nichole Carter said...

My almost 2 year old Molly will eat pretty much anything I give her but she especially likes her veggies and fruit (particularly fresh green beans and blueberries). Her tastes change daily, and I rarely make the same things over and over. She also loves eating meat off the bone (which is a little odd to me since I hate it) but she loves drumsticks.

I have no children, but some of my favorite healthy food is frozen fruit, mainly grapes and cherries are very delicious. If I have a way to keep it cool, and I am putting it into a bento, I like to make a miniature "fruit kabob" on a toothpick before putting it in the freezer. Sometimes I even include marshmallows :)

Abigail said...

My three year old LOVES cucumber slices. She can eat an entire cucumber herself. She also likes baby carrots, but will only eat those with light ranch dressing. For lunch she usually gets at least one fresh vegetable and one fresh fruit and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or rice.

I thought I'd hit up all four entry possibilities with one comment:

1. I'm still growing my little one inside right now, but my favorite lunch these days is a stuffed pita - whole wheat and warmed, with dark green leafies, carrots, tomatoes, feta (I know, I know - I don't care about the soft cheese pregnancy rule, though), banana peppers, and balsamic vinaigrette dressing inside. I normally toss everything together before stuffing it inside, and I add a couple of peppercinis to gnaw on while I'm eating it.

2. I'm both a follower of your blog and a facebook fan.

3. I blogged about you on one of my blogs: http://becoming-the-change.blogspot.com/ . If you're unable to view it, I can send you an invitation through blogger if you can send me an email address.

4. I added a link to your blog on my other blog under the "Check These People Out" section. http://4get2remember.blogspot.com/ . Same rule applies about the email invitation - I have both of my blogs set to private (looooong story).

Thanks for considering me! :-)

One of my favorite childhood lunch items was ham/macaroni soup!

It consists of: chicken broth, cubed ham, peas and corn! Then throw in some cooked macaroni pasta so that it is like a chicken noodle soup type of lunch. It's dee-lish!

Although not that healthy, my mom will sometimes just use a can of Spam instead of ham too.

=)

My daughter absolutely loves it when I pack edamame. Of course it helps that the little prepackaged bags I first bought her had Spongebob Squarepants on them, so she calls them Spongebob beans ^_^ I don't need to buy the prepackaged ones anymore, she's perfectly fine with them being tucked into her bento, but she'll always call them Spongebob beans!

My son's favorite bento is a flax-seed flatbread rolled with honey and sunbutter. On the side he likes an organic yogurt tube, fresh watermelon hearts, and a hard boiled egg. And broccoli. Lots and lots of broccoli.
lol! I'm rather impressed with how much his palate has widened over the years. I still remember his first bento box, when he was two- peanut butter on white bread with no crusts, a cheese stick, and broccoli. (Yes, he's always loved the green stuff.)
